Legacy Logo Unveiled

With the New Year, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Commissioner, Mark Holsten, selected the Legacy logo.  The new design was created by Bernadette Stephenson, a resident of St. Cloud.  Bernadette has a strong library connection as she is employed by the the Great River Regional Library as Library’s Graphic Designer.

A DNR news release offers more details about the logo competition and selection process.  This colorful design will be used throughout the State to designate those projects undertaken with funding from the four Legacy focus areas:  outdoor heritage, parks and trails, clean water, or arts and cultural heritage.

Inaugural exhibit a success

SELCO’s first ever traveling art exhibit debuted at the annual conference of the Minnesota Library Association.  The competitive art show was open to residents of the 11 southeastern counties who submitted pieces depicting the theme of book, letter, reading, or libraries.  Viewers of the easel exhibit shared positive comments such as this one from Bonnie Adams, Director of the Kasson Public Library, in her blog post to the SELCO Librarian.

WOW!! WOW!!  SELCO’s EASEL display was wonderful. Loved all of the interpretations on the theme.  I loved the War & Peace quilt, Pages in glass, and the beautiful bowl.  Very talented artists in Southeast Minnesota.  What a great program to focus on the library and local artists.  Can hardly wait for the display to come to my library.
